This session will focus on student-centered learning that is driven by inquiry-based learning. Inquiry-based learning is an active learning approach that focuses on questioning, critical thinking, and problem solving. Utilizing inquiry-based learning within your classroom will promote student-centered learning and building student understanding and ownership of their learning. This session will focus on ways to integrate GAFE, Google Web Apps/Add-Ons, and iPad creation apps to support inquiry. We will look at the importance of “checking for understanding” and how formative assessment can be used to improve student achievement. During the session, we will also discuss the design principles for inquiry-based learning activities/projects and strategies for students to reflect and provide peer feedback. You’ll come away with hands-on experiences, sample lessons/activities, and best practices/classroom applications.
