The Motherload of Mapping (and Virtual Reality) Resources for Education
There are so many more applications for mapping in the classroom beyond just geography and history. What about language arts, math, science, business, art, foreign languages? In this session, I'll be sharing the motherload of mapping resources for education and beyond. We'll discuss Google Maps, Google Earth, and many great tools outside the Googlesphere. And now with so many VR additions with Google Cardboard and Google Expeditions, there are even more opportunities to integrate mapping and geography into any curriculum. Specific curriculum examples, activities and MOOC's will be shared that you can take back to your class the very next day.

Google isn't just for the classroom!  Participants in this two-hour workshop will learn how to easily collect information with a Google Form.  Participants will learn how to manipulate data in a Google Sheet; install and use add-ons and integrate data with Google Docs.  Participants will learn how to pull it all together with an Awesome Table.  Bring a computer and ideas for projects that can be used back in the office. Learn to Code With Google Apps Script
Google Apps Script is a simple to use tool that can enhance Google Apps in a countless number of ways. It is based on javascript and cloud based, making it is very simple for beginners to learn. This is lowers the barrier to learning programming, allowing beginners to get started quickly.

After this session, participants will understand what Google Apps Script is, and what it is capable of. You will know how to find and interpret documentation, and where to access tutorials and other learning materials. You will write 5-6 short scripts, that demonstrate how this simple tool can extend Google Apps.

This session will be very hands on, with your fingers on the keyboard, learning through exploration.
